January 2023: Pune, India

NICMAR University, a leading provider of professional postgraduate programs in the construction, real estate, infrastructure, and project management (CRIP) sector, has announced a collaboration with YelloSKYE, a drone based company that delivers advanced aerial intelligence solutions. The partnership aims to establish a Centre in Drone Technologies (CDT) at NICMAR University in Pune, to empower students and industry leaders to understand and use drones and related technology and to develop skills to adopt intelligence using drones technology effectively.

“We are excited to partner with YelloSKYE to bring the latest drone technologies to our students at NICMAR University. These digital technologies are the future of the CRIP industry, and we believe it is important for our students to have hands-on experience with them during their education. By collaborating with YelloSKYE, we aim to provide a seamless transition from the classroom to the workplace for our students and ensure they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their careers,” said Mr Anil Kashyap - President & Chancellor NICMAR

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with NICMAR on this exciting initiative. By working together, we can research, innovate, and educate the future leaders of this field, ultimately benefiting everyone involved. We are humbled and honored to have the opportunity to partner with such a respected organization and look forward to the impact this collaboration will have on the industry,” said Mr Kiran Shah, Chairman & Managing Director of YelloSKYE.

At the Bharat Drone Mahotsav our Honorable Prime Minister has stated that India is showing the potential to become a global drone hub. The CRIP sector is a key contributor to India’s economy and is constantly evolving. Adopting digitization in this sector is necessary to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and risk mitigation. There are significant opportunities for the use of modern tools in workflow, integration into supply chains, and hands-on usage in the sector.

Drones are disrupting risk & management of high value infrastructure projects with speed, accuracy & transparency at the core of the value being delivered to stakeholders. Visuals with measurable 3D Digital Twins created with Drones offer a unique tool for data driven decision-making processes. Drone & data driven decisions are changing the way the Industry is managing the risks inherent in the life cycle of the construction & marketing of their assets. The use of drones offers a unique perspective, providing previously unattainable insights.

Drone technology has many potential applications in the construction industry. Here are a few examples:

Inspecting construction sites: Drones equipped with high-resolution cameras can inspect construction sites and assess progress. This can be especially useful for inspecting hard-to-reach areas, such as roofs or tall buildings.

Mapping construction sites: Drones can create detailed maps of construction sites, which can be used to track progress, identify potential problems, and optimize resources.

Surveying land: Drones equipped with surveying equipment can quickly and accurately survey land.

Monitoring safety: Drones can monitor construction sites for safety hazards, such as loose debris or unstable structures.

Favourable government policies have further supported the adoption of drone technology. However, challenges still exist, including scalability and the development of applications across different sectors, for widespread adoption to occur.

Through the collaboration with YelloSKYE, NICMAR aims to validate and explore real-life use cases for drone technology applications and support research initiatives.

The CDT will focus on the construction and real estate industries and will aim to provide students with practical knowledge and skills in using drones and their applications. YelloSKYE, a company with a wealth of experience and expertise in the field, has offered to support NICMAR in developing the CDT. This partnership aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of NICMAR students and others outside the university.

In addition to supporting the CDT at NICMAR, YelloSKYE will also provide its expertise, technology, and knowledge on drone technology-related projects, proposals, prototypes, and awareness programs.

YelloSKYE will also collaborate with NICMAR University to provide technical workshops and training programs on drone technologies, drone-based solutions, software platforms, and prototypes. These programs will be available to students, faculty, and program participants at NICMAR, as well as outside students and industry professionals upon request from NICMAR.

In addition to imparting valuable skills, YelloSKYE will also offer placement, internships, and research opportunities to deserving students at NICMAR. This partnership aims to provide a comprehensive education in drone technologies and support the professional development of those participating in the programs.

This collaboration between NICMAR and YelloSKYE represents a significant step towards the digitalization of the CRIP sector and supporting the development of professional management competencies across all levels of the industry. It is expected to contribute significantly to the growth and development of the sector and the nation’s economy.

“We are excited to be partnering with NICMAR University to advance the use of drone technology in the construction and real estate industries. Quality data capture, processing, and output are essential for the successful implementation of any technology, and we believe that by working together, we can help prepare the industry to leverage the capabilities of drones fully. This collaboration will allow us to share our expertise and knowledge with the next generation of industry leaders and drive innovation in the field,” said Mr Kush Agarwal, CEO and Whole Time Director of YelloSKYE.
