National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR) is a premier academic institute in the field of Construction, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Project Management (CRIP). Since its inception, NICMAR has been quite prolific in its research initiatives and industrial problem solving. NICMAR has incorporated various initiatives focused on overall student development. One of the significant initiatives is to strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem. Taking forward this endeavour [email protected] has been formulated as a Centre for Startup and Incubation with the following aims:

  • Promoting entrepreneurship by providing targeted knowledge to the entrepreneurs
  • Providing incubation and sustainable environment to start-ups
  • Facilitating the growth of entrepreneurs and start-ups by networking

Introduction

Economic progress requires a constant stream of new ideas and products to improve quality of life. India has immense potential of becoming the global power house of innovation and entrepreneurship activities in the world. The Government of India is making continuous efforts to foster innovation, build a strong eco-system for nurturing innovation and Startups in the country that will drive sustainable economic growth and generate large scale employment opportunities. The dynamic growth in the number of startups in the country, corresponding numbers of stakeholders namely investors, incubators, mentors, accelerators have added to the thriving startup ecosystem. Business Incubators are set up to create sustainable and strong entrepreneur support infrastructure to enable young technology inventors and entrepreneurs to find the necessary support and access to resources to build successful startups.

[email protected] has been set up keeping in view the vision of NICMAR to contribute to the growth and development of the country through growth of innovation led entrepreneurship. The Centre for Startup and Incubation shall not only encourage NICMAR students but also young budding innovators and entrepreneurs to realize their own passion and pursue it by unleashing their full potential. It shall help to empower innovators and entrepreneurs to furbish their best ideas into products, services, occupations and growth. The Centre shall promote innovation and entrepreneurship; provide mentoring, infrastructure, business incubation programs and services. This will enable students and entrepreneurs to form startups, incubate and accelerate the startups into flourishing ventures.

Creating an ecosystem for nurturing invention, innovation, entrepreneurship, and ethical enterprises in the Indian architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) sector.

Mission

To promote the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in the NICMAR community, and incubate business proposals and early stage startups in the AEC sector so that they can achieve their true potential.
