The IQAC cell is striving to align the curriculum and student experience in line with the New Education Policy 2020 of the Government of India. We are constantly working towards improving our quality processes by organizing workshops on innovative pedagogy and assessment schemes for our highly qualified faculties to make sure our programme outcomes are achieved. Training programmes are offered to the support staff as well to make sure the university processes flow efficiently and students have a great overall experience at the university.

The main task of the IQAC is to channelize the efforts and measures of the University towards maintaining academic excellence and robust internal governance.

IQAC serves as a vital internal body within a university to ensure and enhance the quality of education, research, and overall institutional performance. It works towards fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Message from Dean's Desk

NICMAR has had its mission to serve the Construction, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Project Management (CRIP) sector for the past four decades. The formation of NICMAR University, Pune has reaffirmed our commitment to serve the CRIP sector with renewed vigour. NICMAR University, Pune is diversifying in allied areas of the CRIP sector like planning, energy, architecture, etc. In this new journey, we are leaving no stone unturned to make sure the legacy of NICMAR will be carried forward through adoption of rigorous quality assurance processes.

NICMAR University, Pune has a dedicated quality assurance department actively involved in ensuring that all our programmes provide a world class 360-degree student experience. The department also houses the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university to provide guidance, support and document that the processes followed at the university are in alignment with the vision and mission of the university.

1. A FDP on ‘Use of ICT and Design Thinking in Teaching’

Centre of Excellence for Academic Practices in collaboration with IQAC and Department of Research organised a full time five days faculty development program on, ‘Use of ICT and Design Thinking in Teaching’. The objective was to encourage faculty members to use innovative digital tools and adopt creative methods in their teaching learning process. Mr. Senthil Kumar, Founder & Director, MADIEE Games and Ms. Shalaka G., Director of Conferences and Global Events, International Association of Facilitators took sessions on ‘Use of Physical and online simulations and gamification in teaching’. Dr. Usha Verma, Associate Professor and Head CELT (Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching) took hands on sessions on various ICT tools in teaching wherein she introduced faculty members with use and concepts of visual design and interactive presentations, using canva for presentations and use of digital softwares for formative and summative assessment and for student engagement. Dr. Pavan Soni, Innovation Evangelist Founder, Inflexion Point Consulting (Alumnus of IIM Mumbai and IIM Bangalore), took sessions on ‘how to use design thinking approach and methods for making teaching and research effective’. Dr. Sushma Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor, NICMAR University, Pune, delivered the inaugural address and valedictory address on faculty training needs and takeaways from the training. The FDP was coordinated by Dr. Kirti Rajhans, Head, Centre of Excellence for Academic Practices. The FDP received enthusiastic participation from faculty members.

A FDP on ‘Use of ICT and Design Thinking in Teaching’
2. A Session on “NIRF Ranking’’

A Session on “NIRF Ranking” was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of NICMAR University, Pune on 08th July, 2024 at the mini auditorium of the University.
Dr. Vishal Singh Patyal, Associate Professor, Chair- Accreditation and Ranking, Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam (IIMV) was the expert for this session. The session aimed to familiarize faculty members with the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and its significance in the context of institutional assessment and improvement. The expert provided valuable insights into the importance, key parameters and potential benefits of participating in the NIRF ranking process
The session was presided over by the honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sushma Kulkarni who emphasized the significance of accreditation and ranking in her inaugural talk. All faculty members of NICMAR University, Pune attended the session. Dr. Amit Hiray, Head QA proposed a vote of thanks.

A Session on “NIRF Ranking’’
3. “Teaching and Learning Practices Showcase 2024"

The Centre of Excellence for Academic Practices, in collaboration with IQAC organised a second edition of its annual event, "Teaching and Learning Practices Showcase 2024". This faculty symposium is an event dedicated to highlighting innovative and effective pedagogical practices. It provides faculty members a platform for showcasing their unique and varied classroom teaching practices for bringing in innovation in teaching.
Dr. Gauri Shiurkar, Director- School of Architecture, Urban Development & Planning, Symbiosis Skills and Professional University, Pune and Dr. Sanjay Mali, Principal, PGDM, National Insurance Academy, Balewadi, Pune were the expert judges for this event. The first winning entry of this year was a group presentation by Dr. Avinash Bagul and Dr. Sudhir Ambekar about innovative teaching methods and gamification in teaching Operations Research. The Second-best entry of the event was a presentation on ‘Innovative teaching methods and solutions to student engagement problems’ by Dr. Dhaarna. Dr. Kirti Rajhans, Head-CoEAP outlined the objectives of the event and its role in fostering a culture of best teaching learning practices at NICMAR University

4. Academic and Administrative Audit

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) conducted a comprehensive academic and administrative audit on November 18 & 19, 2024 to evaluate and enhance the overall functioning of the University. Dr. Sudeep D. Thepade, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Pimpri Chinchwad University, Pune and Dr. Shrikant Kallurkar, Advisor, Research Institute for Studies in Vedic Sciences, Vishwa Global Shivpuri, Akkalkot were the external experts for this audit. The audit aimed at assessing both the academic processes including curriculum delivery, student engagement, and faculty development as well as the administrative processes such as resource management, policy implementation, and institutional governance. By conducting such audits, the IQAC strives to ensure that both academic and administrative systems align with the best quality practices and contribute to the overall growth and development of the University.
The honourable President and Chancellor Prof. Anil Kashyap, Vice-Chancellor Dr. (Mrs.) Sushma S. Kulkarni and all portfolio heads of NICMAR University, Pune actively contributed to the deliberations on quality practices. Dr. Rahul Deshpande, Dean QA proposed a vote of thanks.

5. 'Psychological Counselling of Students'

A session on “'Psychological Counselling of Students'” was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of NICMAR University, Pune on 09th December, 2024 at the mini auditorium of the University. Ms. Pooja Inamke, an Industrial Psychologist, Pratyaya- Mental Well-being Centre, Pune was the expert for this session. The session aimed to provide appropriate feedback on students' queries related to psychological well being.
The expert provided valuable insights on appropriate psychological support, students can navigate their academic and personal challenges more effectively, leading to healthier, more successful outcomes in their educational journey.
The event was held in the presence of Dr. Mrs. Sushma S Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor and faculty members of NICMAR University, Pune. Dr. Amit Hiray, Head QA proposed a vote of thanks.

1. Expert talk on “Values and Ethics: Revisiting Indian Knowledge System”

The National Educational Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) recommends the incorporation of Indian Knowledge System (IKS) into the curriculum at all levels of education. In this context, an expert talk on “Values and Ethics: Revisiting Indian Knowledge System” was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), NICMAR University, Pune on August 9, 2023. Shri. GRK Murty, Managing Editor, IUP, Hyderabad and Former AGM, Bank of India delivered the expert talk. The talk highlighted the in-built values and ethics present in Indian culture by drawing examples from the Indian mythological stories. President and Chancellor Dr. Anil Kashyap, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mrs. Sushma Kulkarni, School Deans, Faculty members, Staff and students were present in the event. 2. Workshop on “Outcome Based Education”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), NICMAR University, Pune organised a workshop on “Outcome Based Education with special reference to Curriculum Design and Development” on 26th September 2023. The Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mrs. Sushma S Kulkarni chaired the session. She explained about the alignment of School Vision and Mission Statements with the University Vision and Mission Statements and drawing and aligning the POs, PEOs and PSOs to them. Dr. Madhav B. Kumthekar, joined as the external expert for the session. He explained about the NAAC requirement and guidelines in the context of NEP 2020. 7. A Session on “NAAC Criteria”

A session on “NAAC Criteria” was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of NICMAR University, Pune on 12th January, 2024 in the G-15 of the University. Mr. Ravindra Wani, Consultant, NICMAR University, Pune was the guest speaker for this session. Presiding over the session, Mr. Ravindra Wani highlighted about the quality aspects in teaching, research and other criteria in the University. He briefed about the various quantitative and qualitative parameters for accreditation process, documentation and ranking of the different criteria’s to be submitted to NAAC. A Follow-up workshop on “CO-PO Mapping”
9. Leadership Development Program

Fostering the culture of continuous learning, The Centre of Excellence for Academic Practices, in collaboration with IQAC organized three days Leadership Development Program for the leadership team of NICMAR University, comprising of all Deans and Heads. It was two days outbound training program at Uksaan, Kamshet and the third day training was within the campus. The participants were guided through various challenging activities during the outbound training. The objective was to facilitate change, think differently and find newer ways of working together and collaborating. Everyone participated enthusiastically in this training, challenging themselves to try new things, reflect on it and then respond. As they say, ‘Learning never stops’. The training was led by Mr. Chetan Patil & Ms. Shalaka from Explorentia Organisational Consultants. Dr. Rahul Deshpande and Dr. Kirti Rajhans organized and coordinated the program.

A Panel Discussion on “Accreditation: Systems, Processes and Benefits” was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of NICMAR University, Pune on 28th February, 2024 at the mini auditorium of the University.
The session was presided over by the honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sushma Kulkarni who emphasized the significance of accreditation in her inaugural talk. Dr. R. K. Jain, Professor, Civil Engineering, Director, JSPM's Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering, Pune, Dr. Sudeep D. Thepade, Dean, QA & Professor, Computer Engineering, Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Pune and Dr. Niyaj Shikalgar, Head, Department of Automation & Robotics, D.Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pune were the expert panelists for the session. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Amit Hiray, Head QA, NICMAR University, Pune. The panelists provided a comprehensive overview of accreditation systems, highlighting their benefits, challenges and proactive measures to address them. All faculty members of NICMAR University, Pune & Dr. Madhav B. Kumthekar, an expert of accreditation process, attended the session and actively participated in the question and answer session. Panel Discussion on “Accreditation: Systems, Processes and Benefits”
11. FDP on ‘Active Learning and Student Management’

The Centre of Excellence for Academic Practices, in collaboration with IQAC organized a full day Faculty Development Programme on ‘Active Learning and Student Management’ for all faculty members of NICMAR University, Pune on 19th April 2024. The resource person of the same was, Dr. Veena Kumar, who currently teaches at the University of Maryland Global Campus, USA, and was earlier Professor and Chair, Education Technology, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. Dr. Kumar has over 30 years of experience in teaching, research, curriculum development, e-learning, and teacher training in France, India and USA. The Dr. Veena Kumar provided an overview of active learning methodologies, emphasizing the importance of engaging students in the learning process through hands-on activities, discussions and fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom culture. She also mentioned about various needs of the learners and the need to change the pedagogy accordingly. It was an interactive session and all faculty members participated enthusiastically in it. Dr. Sushma Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor, NICMAR University, Pune, in her introductory address spoke about the need of innovative pedagogy and its importance for enhanced student learning. Dr. Rahul Deshpande and Dr. Kirti Rajhans organized and coordinated the Faculty Development Programme.

12. Institutional Development Plan Goal Setting Workshop

A Goal Setting Workshop for Deans and Functional Heads was organized by the University at OXFORD Golf Club, Pune from May 2nd to 4th 2024 to set clear objectives that align with the university's overarching targets. From SWOC Analysis to Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) to issues under influence, control or concern, it was a very detailed deliberation by the team to set the agenda for next 5 year to steer university towards greater heights.
The training was led by Ms. Shalaka Gundi, external facilitator and Organizational Development (OD) specialist. The honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sushma Kulkarni, all School Deans and Heads are participated enthusiastically in this workshop.

Institutional Development Plan Goal Setting Workshop
1. Inauguration of IQAC Cell In NICMAR University, Pune

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was launched on 2 nd November, 2022 at NICMAR University Pune. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kashyap, the President and Chancellor of the University. He stressed on the creation of awareness about the quality concept in various aspects both academic and administration in the University system. Prof. Kashyap also apprised that the University will follow the required guidelines of UGC and NAAC as well as will implement the best practices globally for attaining and maintaining the quality. Dr. Pradeepta Kumar Samanta, Director of IQAC presented an overview of the process of internalising the quality culture at University level. Mr. Samir Dutta, Alumni of NICMAR, IQAC Committee member and Director of Nikaya Group, Pune joined as Guest on the occasion.

2. Expert Talk on “NAAC Accreditation Process”

An Expert Talk on “NAAC Accreditation Process” was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of NICMAR University, Pune on 10th February, 2023 in the mini auditorium of the University. Presiding over the event, the President & Chancellor of the University, Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kashyap highlighted about the quality aspects in teaching, research and other criteria in the University. Dr. Ruchi Tripathi, Assistant Advisor, NAAC, Bengaluru was the guest speaker in the event. She made a comprehensive presentation on the different steps by highlighting various quantitative and qualitative parameters for accreditation process of HEIs. Dr. P. K. Samanta, Director, IQAC, briefed about the importance of accreditation process for the University. There were about 100 participants including the Deans, Program Directors and Faculty members from different schools of the University, IQAC Committee members, senior officers and staff members present in the event.

3. Awareness Meeting on University Benchmarks on Academic Accreditation Perspective

An awareness meeting was organised for the Deans and Program Directors from various schools of the University regarding the University Benchmark on Academic Accreditation perspective. Dr. P. K. Samanta, Director IQAC briefed about the background of the meeting and urged everyone to concentrate on different aspects which will be immensely helpful for the University during the process of accreditation. Mr. Ravindra Wani, the consultant of the University made a presentation on the different Key Indicators as prescribed by NAAC. During the presentation and post-presentation discussions were held on different points. The Deans and Program Directors were advised to discuss and disseminate the information among the faculty colleagues in their respective schools. About 20 participants were there in the event.

Awareness Meeting on University Benchmarks on Academic Accreditation Perspective
4. Expert Talk on NEP 2020

An expert talk on Implementation of National Education Policy 2020 was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), NICMAR University, Pune on March 14, 2023 in the mini auditorium of the University. Prof. (Dr.) Nitin R Karmalkar, former Vice-Chancellor of Pune University, an authority in National Education Policy (NEP), delivered this expert talk. While addressing the gathering, Prof. Karmalkar highlighted the various important aspects of NEP 2020 such as, inclusivity, equity, quality, affordability and accountability to promote learning opportunities. He laid emphasis on close connect with industry, bridge course, community engagement, experiential learning etc. for the holistic development of learners. Further, Prof. Karmalkar also gave an overview of the implementation of NEP and road ahead for the state of Maharashtra. Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kashyap, President and Chancellor of the University reiterated the commitment to implement the NEP 2020 at the University level. The talk was followed by a question answer session. At the end, Dr. P. K. Samanta, Director of IQAC while extending vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to Prof. Karmalkar for delivering the insightful talk. There were more than 100 participants including the Deans, Program Directors and Faculty members from different schools of the University, Registrar, IQAC Committee members, senior officers and staff members present in the event.
