Beginning humbly in January 2022, the newsletter is today coveted for its in-depth coverage of happenings at NICMAR and a much anticipated regular feature every month.
But as they say, change is the new beginning. NICMAR Newsletter is undergoing a metamorphosis and evolving in its new form as a dedicated source of happenings and information about NICMAR University, Pune under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
Renamed as ‘THE CHRONICLES', it will continue to mesmerize the readers with features like Leadership Speak, Industry Connect, Alumni Corner, Student Corner etc.
The editorial team is finally coming to fore and sharing their credentials in the newsletter, so essentially you will know the faces behind the curtain and those responsible for sustaining your connection with the institution as a coveted stakeholder through this regular feature.

MoU between NICMAR University and CTAI
NICMAR University is proud to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Construction Technology Alliance Institute (CTAI) Foundation. CTAI aims to bridge the gap in academia and industry for construction technology implementation through its initiatives like Construction Technology Day, Virtual Research Centre, and VDC program. CTAI Foundation’s virtual research centre is a platform that brings real-world construction challenges curated from industry and transformed into engaging research projects. It provides opportunities for students to solve the problem statement using technology.
MoU between NICMAR University and Pune Knowledge Cluster Foundation
NICMAR University Pune signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pune Knowledge Cluster Foundation to jointly pursue projects of mutual interest such as green energy, sustainable mobility, sustainable development etc. The Pune Knowledge Cluster is established by the office of Principal Scientific Adviser, Government of India in 2020 under the city knowledge and information cluster initiative.

77th Independence Day
The NICMAR community came together to celebrate India’s 77 th Independence Day and with that high spirit, Prof Anil Kashyap Chancellor, NICMAR University, Pune hoisted our tricolor flag so high in the sky for the world to spot it and salute its greatness.
Address by Vice Chancellor
Dr. Mrs. Shushma Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor, NICMAR University Pune was invited as a resource person for the Five Days ISTE approved Faculty Development Program on “The Role of Teachers in NEP 2020 Implementation”, on 24th August 2023, organised by D.Y. Patil College of Engineering, Akurdi, Pune.
Vice Chancellor, NICMAR University, Pune was invited as a Chief Guest for Post Graduate Induction Program by JSPM’s Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering (RSCOE), Tathawade, Pune, on August 28, 2023.
Faculty Training sessions
Centre for Academic Practice in collaboration with IQAC conducted two expert sessions on "Outcome Based Education" for all faculty members of NICMAR University Pune, on 2nd August and on 9th August, 2023. This expert training session was organised in view of the huge emphasis laid in NEP 2020 and the NAAC assessment criteria on implementing 'Outcome Based Education' in curriculum design, student assessment and teaching learning methods.
Dr. Sushma Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor, NUP, conducted this expert training session. She guided the faculty members about the role and importance of 'Outcome Based Education' in the Academic Practices, how to implement it in the current system and how to measure the student performance and attainment of course outcomes through certain systematic interventions.
ICCRIP 2023
NICMAR University, Pune, organized its seventh International Conference on Construction, Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Project Management (ICCRIP) on August 11-12, 2023, at its campus. The conference emphasized four major categories: research papers, case studies, doctoral colloquium, and practitioners' perspectives, with a special focus on Construction, Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Project Management (CRIP).
The inaugural function held on August 11, 2023, was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. Ar. Abhay Vinayak Purohit, President, Council of Architecture, India; and the Guest of Honour, Prof. Srinath Perera, Professor, Built Environment/Construction Management, Western Sydney University, Australia.
The keynote speakers included eminent scholars and experts from the CRIP industry like Dr. Sarel Lavy, Professor, Department of Construction Science, School of Architecture, Texas A&M University, USA; Mr. Francis Verstraete, CEO at Verstraete.team, Belgium; Mr. Ramamoorthy Rajendran, Director of Digital Build Pvt. Ltd., Singapore, Ex-Director, Building and Construction Authority, Singapore; Dr. Komali Yenneti, Senior Lecturer, School of Architecture and Built Environment, University of Wolverhampton, UK; Dr. Poonam Kashyap, Director of Strategy and External Partnerships for NICMAR Group of Institutions; Mr. V. T. Chandra Shekhar Rao, Vice President and Dean, Larsen & Toubro Institute of Project Management, India.
The Chief Guest of Valedictory Function of the Conference was Prof. (Dr.) Bhola Ram Gurjar, Director National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
Overall, 250 paper presentations were made in the 7th edition of ICCRIP 2023 creating an opportunity for its participants to interact and deliberate on emerging trends, issues, and practices in the CRIP sector. The panel discussion on Construction 4.0 and the Editors' Conclave segment also served as a platform for the participants, eminent industry professionals, and veteran academicians to discuss the emerging issues in CRIP and publishing issues.
Expert talk
An expert talk on “Values and Ethics: Revisiting Indian Knowledge System” was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), NICMAR University, Pune on August 9, 2023. Shri. GRK Murty, Managing Editor, IUP, Hyderabad and Former AGM, Bank of India delivered the expert talk. The talk highlighted the in-built values and ethics present in Indian culture by drawing examples from Indian mythological stories. The event was attended by the President and Chancellor Dr. Anil Kashyap, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mrs. Sushma Kulkarni, Dr. P K Samanta, Director-IQAC, School Deans, Faculty members, Staff and students were present in the event.

Induction Program
Induction program and heritage site visit was organized for our incoming B. Tech Civil, Master of Planning (Urban Planning), and IMBA batches at NUP.
UDBHAV 2023
The newly joined juniors were welcomed into NICMAR University with an energizing icebreaker fest “UDBHAV 2023”. This unique fest spanned over a week from 30 July 2023 to 5 August 2023 and saw the mentors and mentees work tirelessly with their spirits soaring high.
ONAM 2023
A harvest festival celebrated in the State of Kerala, visited the NICMAR University campus this year with immense pomp and glee on 26 August 2023. Initiated by the heart-thumping beats of Chenda melam, the procession directed the excited students towards an afternoon filled with fun games such as “Uri Adi”. The evening saw the daintily dressed student fraternity head to the auditorium for a cultural program all curated to highlight the festive gala that Onam is for the Malayali community. The day was sweetened with a delicious payasam served during dinner.

Placement Spotlight @ Pune
The Placement Department of NUP was thrilled to have hosted an illuminating guest lecture on "Earned Value Management and Advanced Work Package,"by experts from Bechtel. The insights shared by Mr. Ashish Oberoi, Manager of Project Controls; Mr. Lalit Kochar, Senior Planner of Project Control; and Mr. Debasis Das, Construction Manager of the Construction Department, exemplified Bechtel's commitment to knowledge dissemination and industry collaboration.
Mr. Ashish Oberoi, guided students through the nuances of EVM – a vital tool in assessing project performance. Mr. Lalit Kochar, took students on a journey into the world of AWP, highlighting how meticulous scope definition, efficient scheduling, and resource allocation contribute to project success. Mr. Debasis Das, shared real-world case studies and illuminated the application of AWP in actual projects, providing a bridge between theory and practice.
