Address by President and Chancellor
Prof Anil Kashyap Kashyap, President and Chancellor, NICMAR University addressed the inaugural session of the 2nd IndiGlobal Education Festival 2022 on the theme “Innovation, Skilling and Learning Evolving landscape in School and Higher Education” He outlined that -"Education is the critical indicator for development and it plays an important role in the economic development of any country."
Infrastructure Dialogues
In order to collect valuable insights to better understand the success stories and challenges being faced by institutes in training BIM professionals, NICMAR University (NU), Pune (along with other premier institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, SPA, etc.) was invited for a focused Consultation in Academia Category on September 16, 2022, in an online mode organized by India Infrastructure Forum organized on behalf of NITI Aayog.
The consultation took place around the topic of Infrastructure Dialogues - Faster Adoption of BIM in Infrastructure Projects. Dr. Sagar Malsane (Associate Professor & Program Director) represented NICMAR University at this forum and shared various initiatives undertaken by NICMAR University in BIM implementation and its future plans.
Visiting Students
The Learning Out of Box Team at Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Architecture, Pune organized a study visit for the students at NICMAR University, Pune on 26th September 2022. The study team was briefed about the history and growth of NICMAR, academic programmes offered by NICMAR University, infrastructure at the university, training and research activities undertaken at NICMAR University.
The study team was shown the Artificial Reality-Virtual Reality (AR-VR) lab along with demonstration of an experiment. Few students were given a hands-on experience on AR-VR setup. The visit concluded with campus tour for the study team.
Industry Seminar Series
NICMAR University Pune organized the first industry seminar of the Academic Year 2022-2023 on Wednesday 14th September 2022. The seminar was delivered by Shri. Bhooshan Dixit, Head, Product Development, Construction Chemical Division at Thermax Ltd. The topic of the seminar was “Overview and Opportunities in Construction Chemical Industry”.
Shri. Abhishek Lahoti, Senior Analyst ICRA delivered the second seminar on the topic “Journey of Airport Infrastructure in India”. The seminar was followed by question and answer session where in the students asked various questions related to Airport Project, Public Private Partnership (PPP) in Airport Projects and Revenue Generation in Airport Projects. The program was attended by over 300 students and faculty members of NICMAR University.
Urban Planning Dialogue Series
The second in the series of Roundtable Discussions titled "India@2047: Role of Planning Education" was conducted online by CSRD on September 20th, 2022. The invitees included Prof. Dr. Sanjukkta Bhaduri, HoD, Urban Planning Department, SPA Delhi; Mr. Avanish Pendharkar, Center Head and Principal Researcher of Center of Urban Planning and Policy, CEPT University; Dr. Debjani Ghosh, Associate Professor, National Institute of Urban Affairs; and Ms. Aparna Vedula, Additional Chief Planner, CIDCO Maharashtra Ltd. The enriching discussions centered around the essential skills required by the planning industry; current and future trends; along with critical aspects of planning curriculum design and pedagogy. Prof. Anil Kashyap, President-Chancellor NU along with Interim Dean and faculty of SoPREI attended the deliberations.

Mr. Kartik Kulkarni, Co-founder & COO of Quintrans Hyperloop gave a presentation on the recently patented state of the art hyperloop technology.

Concrete Day and Engineers Day Celebration
School of Construction and Technology celebrated the Concrete Day on September 7th. The occasion was commemorated by casting a cube of concrete thereby making NICMAR Hyderabad's continual commitment towards sustainability in built environment.
On the occasion of Engineer’s Day, Dr. Sarbesh Mishra, Dr. R Sathish Kumar and Dr. Mahesh Balasubramani delivered keynote lectures on the occasion of Engineers’ Day at Sreenidhi Institute of Science & Technology, Ghatkesar, Hyderabad. The students were sensitised on the corporate expectations from fresh graduates of Civil Engineering students, the recent advancements in construction technology in the light of challenges like and the imperative for higher education in construction management.
Management Development Programme @Hyderabad
26 participants of GR Infra projects participated in the company-based training programme on Construction HSE Management conducted by the faculty of NICMAR Hyderabad. The programme was organised from 17th-18th September, 2022 at their head office in Gurgaon.
Guest Lecture
An interactive guest lecture on ‘Cost Planning, Estimating and Costing of Construction Works’ was organised for the QSCM students of NICMAR Hyderabad on 28th Sept., 2022. The speaker was Mr. E V Johnson Neil, Director – Eben Johnson Consultants, Dubai, UAE. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (UK), Fellow of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (Australia), Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Arbitrators (UK), and Fellow of the Institution of Surveyors (India), Global Vice President of the Indian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (India) and a Trustee of the International Ethics Standards Coalition (UK). The session was presided by Mr. Paul Bankala, Senior Contracts Administrator Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects.
On 28th Sep, 2022, the School of Construction & Technology organised a Guest Lecture on “The role of communication in infrastructure and PPP projects”. Ms. Anindita Sinha, Head Corporate Communication & Presiding Officer IC-POSH – L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, who is also a senior communication professional, thought leader and mentor, provided insights on why/how communication is important in projects, why/how branding is required for infra & PPP projects during conception, during construction and during O&M and how such communication/branding helps in crisis issues in projects.

Udbhav 2022 @Pune
The academic year 2022-23 began with the annual icebreaking event Udbhav 2022 from 27th August 2022 to 04th September 2022. Udbhav is a platform for the new students to interact with their seniors, who act as mentors, and showcase their talents in various domains. The tagline for this year was ‘Dream Dare Deliver’. It went on for a week with competitions being organised in 8 domains namely Technical, Business, Cultural, Literary, Design, Sports, Informal and Photography.
Throughout the week, the air of the campus was abuzz with practice and jam sessions. The event ended on a high note with Group 7 emerging victorious and taking the winner’s trophy and Group 5 taking the runners up trophy.
Ganesh Chaturthi @Pune
With the pulsating beats of dhol-tasha, in honour of the beloved Lord Ganesha, Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur at NICMAR University, Pune. The campus was filled with the sounds of dhol tasha and the day of the Visarjan began by a Maharashtrian feast for lunch, an offering of chappan bhog to the lord and a Pathak of dhol tasha to bid farewell to the adored deity.
The harvest festival which also signifies the return of the legendary King Mahabali, Onam was celebrated with great splendour at NICMAR University, Pune. The campus was decorated with lights and flowers making Pookalam (a floral pattern) in the reception area. was filled with games followed by a cultural program full of dance and music performances. Celebrations @Hyderabad
Teachers Day was celebrated at NICMAR Hyderabad on Sep.5th, 2022., to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, former President of India. On the occasion, students expressed their gratitude towards the teaching fraternity. They also remembered the contributions of Late Mr.Amit Shrivas, faculty of NICMAR and paid their homage.
Onam, the annual harvest festival of Keralites was celebrated with great spirit and exuberance at NICMAR Hyderabad on 7th Sep, 2022. The events included the cultural performances symbolising the spirit of Onam, Melam (an instrumental music show) and Sandhya (the traditional lunch served on this occasion). Various games were also organised. All the staff and faculty members actively participated in the festive celebrations.
On 28th September 2022, the members of Club Yugma at NICMAR Hyderabad organised the celebration of Bathukamma and Garba the traditional festivals of Telangana and Gujarat. Bathukamma, which literally means ‘Goddess come alive’, is a nine-day floral festival during which small ‘Bathukammas’ (beautiful flower stacks arranged in a unique style in the shape of a temple) are made and worshipped. Garba, performed in the honour of Goddess Durga, is a significant part of the Navarathri festival celebrated in Gujarat. Students, staff and faculty members participated enthusiastically in these events.
