It is said in a Buddhist proverb that – ‘When the student is ready, the teacher appears’. Essentially it means that when someone wants to learn and has a passion towards gaining knowledge, then nothing can stop the process as guidance and wisdom in the form of a teacher will truly appear to the knowledge seeker.
NICMAR University (NU) proudly welcomed the second cohort of university batches in the month of August 2023. Bright minds with a passion for learning and a zeal to make a difference in this futuristic technology-enabled world of tomorrow. The student cohorts have been participating in a two-week induction program that has been structured to inculcate the spirit of lifelong learning and Indian value systems. Yoga sessions, heritage site visits, community engagement, guest talks by eminent personalities from diverse life spheres along with many activities and short events have made this induction program engaging and memorable for the incoming NU students.
It is said that pictures say a thousand words. So, I urge the readers to delve into the colourful pictures of the NU Induction Program 2023 and be mesmerized by the exuberance and enthusiasm of this positive campus energy.

Award to NICMAR University
We are delighted to share that NICMAR University, Pune, received the prestigious award in recognition of outstanding performance and premium quality work for “Best University with Industry Oriented Programs", at 'Navabharat Education Summit held in Mumbai, on 29th, July 2023. This award was presented to the institute at the auspicious hands of Hon’ble Shri. Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Maharashtra State and Rtd. Lt. Gen. Madhuri Kanitkar, Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.
SWAYAM-NPTEL Recognition
SPOC (single point of contact) SWAYAM NPTEL (Dr. Amit Goel) for NU, received the Plaque for NU at the workshop in IIT Bombay on July 15.

Happenings @ NICMAR
Address by President and Chancellor
Dr Anil Kashyap, President and Chancellor, NICMAR University, was invited to address the Education Leaders Conclave in Hyderabad on 20th July 2023 on the theme of “Transforming Education: Empowering Learners through Technology”.
Dr. Kashyap was also invited to deliver a keynote address at 2nd QS I-GAUGE Academic Excellence Conclave in Pune on the topic of “Reverse engineering to cultivate youth employability”.
Women Excellence Award
Dr. Mrs. Sushma S. Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor NICMAR University, Pune has been honoured with the "अर्थसंकेत" Women Excellence Awards 2023 by "अर्थसंकेत" Marathi Finance and Professional online newspaper on 8th July 2023.
Address by Vice Chancellor
Dr. Mrs. Sushma S. Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor was invited for the inauguration and as a keynote speaker for Faculty Conclave organized by the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, at MITAOE, Alandi, on July 7, 2023.
Site Visit
The School of Construction conducted a site visit for the senior batch of MBA ACM students. The visit took place at Chandini Chowk between the late night of July 13th and the early morning of July 14th, 2023 (11:00 pm to 4:00 am). 32 students along with Dr. Tenepalli JaiSai (Faculty member) visited this site.
The purpose of the site visit was to observe the launch of a 57m precast and post-tensioned girder constructed using ultra-high-performance cement composite concrete with a grade of M150.
Faculty Training Program @Hyderabad
A hands-on training program on Calquan KX was organized by the School of Construction and Technology from 2nd to 4th of July 2023. The faculty members were trained by the trainer from Calquan India Private Limited. The training program received enthusiastic feedback from the attendees.
Case Teaching/Writing Workshop @Hyderabad
The Centre for Continuing Professional Development (CCPD), NICMAR Hyderabad, facilitated a Case Teaching/Writing Workshop for the NICMAR Hyderabad faculty members. . The resource person for the workshop was Prof. Ramakrishna Velamuri, Dean, School of Management, Mahindra University, Hyderabad. Over the two days, the participants were introduced to pedagogical approaches for case discussions, drafting effective cases, engendering a synergy between case writing and publishing high-impact journal articles, and developing one’s professional visibility through case writing.
Kargil Vijay Diwas celebration @Hyderabd
On 26th July 2023, the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed at NICMAR Hyderabad by paying homage to the martyrs. Around 50 students assembled at the Athulyam block and remembered the sacrifice of defense personnel by paying their heartfelt homage to the martyrs. The event was commemorated with the screening of a documentary about the Kargil War.
Guest Seminar @Pune
An expert guest seminar was organised on 18th July 2023 for newly joined postgraduate students during their Induction program by the Centre for Academic Practice. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Makrand Hastak, Professor and the Dernlan Family Head of Construction Engineering and Management as well as Professor of Civil Engineering at Purdue University, U.S.A. He is also the current President of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB).
An inaugural address by Dr. Poonam Kashyap, Director, Strategy and External Partnerships, NICMAR University highlighted various international partnerships and engagement activities conducted at NICMAR for students. Dr. Makrand Hastak, in his expert address, presented the challenges of the present and future to achieve a smart and sustainable built environment, construction industry 5.0, etc., and the need for research and innovation in addressing those challenges.

An article about NICMAR University written by Dr. Mrs. Sushma S. Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor got published in Navabharat paper, dated 24 July 2023.
Orientation Program of Research Scholars
NICMAR Doctoral School, NU Pune, conducted a highly anticipated Ph.D orientation program on July 10, 2023. The event, attended by esteemed guests and scholars, aimed to provide an insightful introduction to the doctoral journey and set expectations for the participants. There are 8 Full-time and 10 Part-time scholars.

MDP on Construction Project Management (Online)
The first and second batch of an online Management Development Program (MDP) on Construction Project Management was organised by the School of Executive Education Programs, NICMAR University, Pune in the month of June and July for the officials of Tata Steel Limited. A total of 40 officers of Tata Steel Limited participated in these programs.

Alumni Talk
Some of our illustrious alumni who have made their mark in the industry visited NICMAR University, Pune campus to share their experiences with the newly inducted batch.
They spoke of their aspirations and how best they put to use, their 2 years on campus. Some highlights were the origins of NICMAR's start-up club, Nursing Tree - NICMAR Alumni's NGO, AGNI, NICMAR's Alumni Association.
Alumni Meet
NICMAR’s Alumni Association, AGNI organised an alumnus meet in Pune. The event was well attended by around 40 alumni from Pune and Navi Mumbai. They were addressed by Vice Chancellor, NICMAR Uni, Pune, Dr. (Mrs) Sushma Kulkarni.
Panel Discussion
Mr. Awanish Shukla, an alumnus of NICMAR ACM 27 Pune, actively took part in a panel discussion on 'Jobsite Connectivity and Safety: Advanced Technologies addressing Labour Shortages' at the Construction Technology Summit (CTS'23) held in Delhi.

Student Nook
Induction Program @Hyderabad
The induction program for the new batch students was organized on 17th and 18th July 2023. The program began with the lighting of the lamp by Prof. Dr. Indrasen Singh, Dean- Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. T. Seshadri Sekhar, Dean- Campus, all school deans, and student representatives from the new batch.
The two-day program acquainted students with the academic systems and processes like program structure, examination process, library, IT, student, and Club activities, along with other departmental and infrastructural facilities like hostels, sports, administrative services, computer labs, etc. A campus tour was organised to get the students acquainted with their 'new home'.
The induction program concluded with an inspiring valedictory address by Prof. Dr. Anil Kashyap, Director General of NICMAR.
Anti-Ragging Awareness Event @Hyderabad
An anti-ragging awareness campaign was initiated with the ACM36 Batch on 14th July, 2023. All ACM 36th Batch students took an oath, assuring that they will uphold the moral and ethical values of human behaviour, comply with the relevant policies of anti-ragging and student conduct and promote fraternity and brotherhood with dignity within and outside the institutions.
Student Achievements
Three students of ACM 36th Batch, Ms. K S Roopali, Mr. Dadi Bhargav, and Ms. Svetha S received full scholarships to attend and participate in the 40th International Symposium on Automation and Robotics in Construction at IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai, India.

Adani Group was one of the companies that hogged the limelight for Campus Placement season with total selections of 51 students spread across all branches. The profiles offered were of Site Execution and Control, Project Planning, Project Controls & Project Management with a Package of 11 LPA !!
