GAC-PMI Accreditation

We are thrilled to announce that NICMAR University, Pune, has received accreditation from the Global Accreditation Center, Project Management Institute (GAC-PMI) for the MBA - Advanced Construction Management program and the MBA - Advanced Project Management program. The said accreditation is valid for five years, from 1st March 2024 to 28th February 2029. The efforts taken by the NICMAR University team to get this international accreditation were well appreciated by Hon. Chairman, NICMAR Trust.

The benefits of this accreditation are: it differentiates the program as one of a select group that applies evidenced-based project management standards and rigor; increases marketing potential for students, strengthens employment opportunities for graduates; helps gain peer recognition with other academic institutions within the field of project management and includes promotion on the gacpm.org global directory of accredited programs.


Navbharat International Business Excellence Award

In recognition of NICMAR University, Pune’s contribution to the construction, real estate, infrastructure and project management sector, NICMAR University, Pune was conferred with the Navbharat International Business Excellence award in a function held at Dubai on 9th March 2024.

Dr. Arshi Ayub, Senior Adviser to the Royal Family Offices and CEO of Oxygenate: Sustainability Enterprise presented the award. The award was received on behalf of Dr. Sushma Kulkarni, Vice-chancellor, NICMAR University, Pune by Dr. Anil Agarwal, Dean – Academics and Dr. Rahul Deshpande, Dean – Quality Assurance.


MoU between NICMAR University, Pune and PCERF

IEV Project Presentations-2024: The Beginning

Keeping the true spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI), NICMAR University, Pune launched its unique initiative of Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Venture Development (IEV) Project. Under this initiative, a student’s project will go through three stages of Develop an Innovative Business Idea and convert it into a Proof-of-Concept, convert it into a working Prototype and finally produce a Minimum Viable Business Model.

The first round of “IEV Project Presentations-2024: The Beginning” was held on 13th March 2024, where 22 enthusiastic groups consisting of 83 students across programmes participated and presented their business idea. The event was attended by several industry leaders, who have extended their support and mentorship to these students.

Workshop on "Digital Quality Control using digiQC"

A one-day workshop on "Digital Quality Control using digiQC" was held at NICMAR University, Pune on March 02, 2024. The session commenced with the inaugural address by Dr. Sushma S Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor and Dr. Anil Agarwal, Dean of Academics and Convenor of the workshop. Keynote speaker, Mr. Sumant Kachru, CEO of digiQC, along with his associates Mr. Nayan Gupta and Ms. Harsha Wadhwani, provided invaluable insights into digital quality control in construction projects.

Students had a hands-on experience with digiQC's mobile app and project admin web browser. Dr. Nilesh Agarchand Patil, the co-convenor, summed up the collective gratitude of participants towards speakers and organizers.

Celebrating International Women’s Day

Genesis, the Gender Championship Club and Inter Committee (for POSH) organized International Women’s Day celebrations at NICMAR University, Pune on March 8, 2024, to celebrate the resilience, empowerment, and contribution of women in all sectors.

A panel discussion with a few distinguished women leaders was organized on the day. The panellists included Dr. Poonam Kashyap, Director- Strategy and External Partnerships, NICMAR, Dr. Sushma Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor, NICMAR University, Pune, and three illustrious NICMAR alumni namely Mrs. Pallavi Wasule-Salunke, Assistant General Manager – CBRE, Ms. Jui Yadav –Manager- KEC International, Ms. Ridhi Agarwal, Co-founder- Hipcouch.

The women leaders discussed the specific challenges in the industry and also guided the students about how to overcome barriers and rise to the top! After this, a Debate Competition was organized for students which was oriented towards brainstorming challenges of bringing in harmony and equality in society. Informal team games were conducted for faculty and staff members to commemorate the spirit of togetherness, the importance of supporting each other and coming out of your comfort zone.

Guest Sessions

School of Project Management conducted two guest sessions for senior students of the MBA APM program on 23rd March 2024.

Mr. Aniruddha Dahiwele, Senior Deputy General Manager - MEP, Prestige Estate Projects Ltd., gave an expert talk on “Case studies on Challenges in MEP Coordination" and Mr. Santosh Katkar, Project Engineer Mechanical, Ethos Engineering delivered an expert talk on "Case studies on application of BIM for MEP Projects".

NICMAR Premier League (NPL) – March 2024

NICMAR University, Pune organized its first cricket tournament ‘NICMAR Premier League (NPL) for the faculty and staff members on March 2 & 3, 2024. The tournament received an overwhelming response as five teams competed for the coveted first NPL trophy. The matches were enthralling and all teams gave their best performance.

Teams NICMAR Paltan and NICMAR Spartans reached the final of the tournament. NICMAR Paltan emerged as winners in the thrilling final match. Dr. Sagar Malsane captained the winning team NICMAR Paltan whereas Mr. Revan Sidhanaykawade was the captain of the runners-up team NICMAR Spartans. The tournament proved to be an excellent opportunity for strengthening team bonding and collaboration among the Nicmarians.

Industry Connect Series

Mr. Nilesh Sapte (Manager of Construction), Bechtel India Pvt Ltd. delivered a profoundly inspiring talk on the 'Construction of Bechtel on Large Scale Process Plants and Major Infra Projects'. Mr. Lalit Kochar (Project Controls Manager) of Bechtel India Pvt Ltd. conducted a highly interesting and interactive session on 'Critical Path Method'.

Corporate Connect Initiative

Mr. Swapnil Potdar and Ms. Vrushali Potdar, Directors of Ira Sustainable Water Solutions shared their decade-old entrepreneurial journey at NICMAR University, Pune on March 1, 2024.

It was organized by the School of Energy and Environment (SOEE). The session focused on facilitating an exchange of experiences rather than delving into technical intricacies. This approach ensured accessibility to students across various disciplines, fostering a dynamic learning environment. Both of them shared compelling narratives of their journey, highlighting both challenges and triumphs.

Rural Connect Program

A rural connect program was organised for the first-year students of the B. Tech (Civil Engineering) program in NICMAR University, Pune (NUP). The students were taken to Village Savardare in the Bhor Taluka, Pune district for a duration of two days (29-30 March 2024).

The students went around the village and interacted with the natives of the village as well as the students of the local government school and gained first-hand experience of rural life. A series of interactive activities were organized for the primary school students of the local school. These activities were designed to foster a connection and provide a platform for expression.

The Rural Connect Program provided valuable insights into the simplicity and sustainability of village life, leaving a lasting impression on the students’ academic and personal development.

Celebrating Birthdays: Start of a Joyous Tradition

January 2024, we embarked on a new tradition at NICMAR UNIVERSITY, PUNE that will surely become a cherished part of our culture: monthly birthday celebrations. Led by our esteemed President, Vice Chancellor and Registrar the gathering was a joyous occasion where birthday celebrants were greeted with personalized gifts, reflecting the warmth and camaraderie defining our workplace culture.

Regardless of job titles or departments, everyone is invited to partake, reinforcing the idea that we're all integral threads in the tapestry of NICMAR University, Pune. It’s been three months and three such celebrations and many more to go.

Faculty and Staff Achievements/Awards

Dr. Milind Jagtap was honored with AIMS International Outstanding Management Teacher Award -2023, by the Association of Indian Management Scholars (AIMS) for his significant contribution towards Management teaching. The award was presented during the 21st AIMS Internal Conference on Management held at Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore on March 1, 2024.

Dr. Sagar Malsane, as a representative of NICMAR University moderated flagship panel discussions at Aakaar 2024, IIT Bombay’s annual technical festival of the Civil Engineering Department.

Mr. Ganesh Pande successfully completed International 200 km Cycling BRM Event in in 11 hours 53 minutes (Event Route – Pune-Kapurhol-Lonavala-Pune). The event was held on 23 March 2024, organised by Pune Randonneurs Club.

Technikala 2024 - Preludes

The first prelude to the magnificent event turned the auditorium into a theatre. Students’ highest-voted blockbuster movie, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” made it to the silver screen creating a spooky yet humorous ambiance. The MAD Club staged a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak performance at JM Road. They addressed the public through an act shedding light on issues related to mental health, including study pressure, slow learning, sexual assault, and corporate ragging.

This was followed by an action-packed performance by NDC as a third prelude to Technikala 2024. Spotlights illuminated the runway as the NFC models, revealed the official TECHNIKALA Merchandise, embodying the essence of the highly anticipated event. An electrifying flash mob at Westend Mall, Aundh, Pune featuring a medley of songs, captivating a large crowd and earning thunderous applause took place as prelude fourth.

The Hue Club organized "Splatter to Flatter," a tie-dye fiesta that ignited the creativity of students enabling them to unleash their creativity and adorn T-shirts with stunning designs. The SatTva Club, organized "Pottery Barn - A Pottery Affair" to celebrate the art of transforming clay into beautiful pottery.

The Action Arena was a thrilling event for adventure lovers. The campus came alive with thunderous sounds of bike riders and their engines. Safety remained paramount as spectators watched exciting stunts like wheelies and skilled maneuvers.

The NMC delivered an exciting line-up of songs at The Pavilion Mall in Pune, captivating audiences of all ages, from children to young adults and beyond. The crowd enthusiastically applauded their performance, showering them with cheers and applause.

Technikala 2024

The fest also offered a plethora of engaging activities, including Rock Hammer, Paintball, Play Station, as well as traditional sports and e-sports like Badminton, Cricket, Valorant, COD, and FIFA, ensuring high spirits among attendees throughout. Photography events captured perfect moments in time and light, adding to the festival's vibrancy and allure. In addition to the spirited contests, creative cultural performances infused the fest with energy and excitement.

The proshows were undoubtedly the highlight of the event. Stand-up comedian Gaurav Kapoor had the audience engaged with his witty anecdotes, while DJ Naairo electrified the night on Day 2. The grand finale featured soulful performances by singer Asees Kaur, leaving students with cherished memories and a sense of fulfilment.

Farewell 2024

On March 27, 2024, a heartfelt farewell marked the departure of esteemed MBA batches: MBA-ACM, MBA-APM, and MBA-REUIM (2022-24), as well as MBA-QSCM (2023-24). Dr. Anil Kashyap, President and Chancellor, expressed deep gratitude and pride for the students' dedication and excellence. Dr. Sushma S Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor, shared motivating experiences, and Dr. Anil Agarwal, Dean Academics, along with Dr. Jonardan Koner, Dean Career Services and International Affairs, Dr. Amit Hiray former Dean Student Welfare cum Chief Warden, extended heartfelt wishes for the graduates' future endeavors, acknowledging their significant contributions to the university community.

Special recognition was given to the Student Council (2022-23) and Placement Committee (2023-24) for their unwavering commitment and leadership. Their dedication to enhancing student life at the campus was applauded with a felicitation as a testament to their passion and vision.

The class representatives were honored for their invaluable contributions. Each Club and Team was presented with a token of appreciation as a gesture of gratitude for their collective efforts in enriching the extra-curricular experience for all students. The ceremony reached its crescendo with captivating cultural performances by juniors, expressing gratitude and bidding farewell to their predecessors, symbolizing the continuation of a legacy of talent.
