Best Teaching Learning Centre Award

The Centre of Excellence for Academic Practices of NICMAR University, Pune received ‘Best Teaching Learning Centre’ award during ICTIEE (International Conference on Transformations in Engineering Education), 2025 conference organized by IUCEE and VNR VJIET recently at Hyderabad. This award was conferred based on submissions invited from Teaching Learning Centres of various academic institutions from all across India about their contributions to innovations in teaching learning practices, innovative pedagogy and future plans to manage challenges in teaching and student engagement.

Urbanova 2025:

Dr. Mrs. Sushma Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor of NICMAR University, was invited as a special guest and keynote speaker at Urbanova 2025, an Infra Procurement Summit held at Courtyard by Marriott, Mumbai, on 21st February 2025. She delivered a keynote address on “Infrastructure Procurement in India.” Urbanova 2025 showcased key initiatives to address challenges and emerging opportunities of procurement in the infrastructure sector.

Presidents Roundtable on Global Academic Collaboration

Dr. Mrs. Sushma Kulkarni was invited to attend the Presidents Roundtable Discussion at the St. Regis Hotel on February 6, 2025.

The discussion offered valuable insights into global academic collaboration and policy frameworks emphasizing how students from the USA and Indian universities can work together through the Global Immersion Program. It was also discussed how we can scale up education with quality using technology. The exchange of ideas underscored the increasing internationalization of higher education and the need to streamline admission processes to facilitate global mobility.

The event also provided meaningful networking opportunities, allowing for engagement with esteemed leaders from both academia and industry. These interactions highlighted the importance of cross-border collaborations in shaping the future of education.

Training Program on DG Set Operation and Maintenance

The full-day training program, organized to understand DG Set Operation and Maintenance, was attended by the NICMAR University maintenance team on 14th February 2025. The training was organized by M/S Trident Services in collaboration with Cummins Ltd. (Original Equipment Manufacturer) to enhance the team’s skills in handling and maintaining DG sets effectively by providing comprehensive knowledge of DG set operations, training the team for day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance and improve the team’s capability to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues with the DG sets.

Industry Expert Talk Series:

We hosted an insightful session featuring esteemed industry leaders from Bechtel Corporation on 5th Feb 2025. Mr. Nilesh D. Sapte, Manager - Construction, delivered an inspiring talk on the ‘Key Issues in Managing Major Infrastructure Projects’, while Mr. Lalit Kochar, Project Controls Supervisor, shared valuable insights on ‘Importance of Project Controls in Successful Project Execution’.

Ms. Sheetal Jerath Sharma, Associate Director, People & Culture at Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, delivered an engaging and insightful session on "Professionalism and Its Importance for Career Success" on 29th Jan 2025. She shared her journey in HR and highlighted Grant Thornton's people-centric culture, emphasizing the significance of skills, attitude, and adaptability for long-term career growth. She also underscored key traits such as courage, confidence, ethics, empathy and innovation along with essential skills like networking, negotiation, active listening, and conflict resolution.

Enhancing Safety in Construction: Insights from Industry Experts – A Guest Talk

On February 12, 2025, School of Construction in association with the Pune Construction Engineering Research Foundation (PCERF), successfully organized a guest talk on Construction Safety Management.

The session was delivered by two distinguished speakers from industry - Er. Ramnath Bhat, A.R. Engineers and Consultants, Pune and Er. Satishkumar Nair, Director & Head of Training, Safeskill Safety Services. The event provided a platform for robust discussions on topics such as the integration of technology in safety training and the economic implications of implementing comprehensive safety programs. The collective insights offered a comprehensive understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of construction safety, inspiring participants to champion safety in their future endeavours.

VisiLean Software One-day Workshop

School of Construction, NICMAR University, Pune, organised a one day "hands-on practice workshop on “VisiLean software" for the faculty teaching the course on lean construction management. The workshop was conducted on February 12, 2025 by Mr. Paramjit Lota, Manager - Customer Success, VisiLean Ltd., an innovative cloud-based lean production management software solution serving the construction industry.

Mr. Paramjit explained the basic and advanced features of VisiLean software and gave insight on how digital innovations were becoming essential for effective lean construction management, offering new levels of precision, transparency, and efficiency. The workshop concluded with hands-on practice on the application of VisiLean software for effective planning, monitoring and controlling of construction projects.

Empowering Conversations on STEM and Gender!

Genesis, the Gender Championship Club of NICMAR University, Pune in association with Internal Committee for POSH, organized an insightful invited talk on "STEM Education and Gender", on 17th Feb. 2025, featuring Dr. Vineeta Bal, a distinguished scientist and immunologist currently working as a faculty in IISER, Pune. Dr. Bal was a member of the Prime Minister's task force for Women in Science under the Ministry of Science and Technology and is Chairperson, BOT of Nari Samata Manch, Pune. Dr. Bal, a gender equality expert, discussed the underrepresentation of women in science in India's top institutions. She highlighted the differences between equality, equity, and justice, sparking gender discussions among students, faculty, and staff.

The Genesis Club held a gender equality and inclusivity poster competition to increase engagement. Students used their creativity to express their gender issues and perspectives in a beautiful way.

Advancing Sustainability Through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

School of Energy & Environment successfully held an intensive LCA Workshop on February 15, 2025, bringing together students, faculty, and industry professionals to discuss LCA's role in sustainability. Expert-led sessions illuminated LCA methods, sustainability assessment frameworks, and their role in reducing industry environmental impact. Hands-on training on One Click LCA software allowed participants to apply theory to real-world case studies. Mr. Siddharth Bhagwat (CEO, Sustain & Save), Mrs. Kavita Tikale (LCA & Environmental Expert), Ms. Aditi Chitnis (BD Team Lead, One Click LCA), Mr. Vinay Sarode (Engineering Manager, Centre for Sustainability-Eaton), Mr. Sachin Nande (LCA Consultant-Philips), and Mr. Suraj Shekhar (LCA Consultant) attended the workshop. This workshop improved industry-academia collaboration and gave attendees the skills to make sustainability-focused decisions in their fields.

Enhancing Collaboration: Faculty Team Building Training

Centre of Excellence for Academic Practices successfully organized two outbound training programs of two days’ duration for faculty members of NICMAR University, Pune at Rajputana Trails, Kamshet, Pune on 15th-16th February and 22nd-23rd February 2025. The program aimed to enhance communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking to align with the university’s vision. Participants engaged in various exciting and challenging team games and activities like hill climbing, puzzle solving and raft building to strengthen teamwork and trust. The program followed the Trigonous approach, focusing on three key principles: Know Thyself, Know Why, and Know How. Through these activities, faculty members built stronger professional relationships, pushed their limits, and improved collective collaboration, paving the way for future success and institutional growth.

Celebrating Achievement and Recognition!

Dr. Ramakrishna Nallathiga delivered a Key Note Presentation on "Fiscal health of cities: Issues and reforms" in the Technical Session on "Municipal Fiscal Health" of 73rd National Town and Country Planners Conference on Intelligent, Digital Spatial Planning and Governance held at Thiruvananthapuram on January 10-12, 2025 by the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI).  He was invited to be a Key Speaker by the ITPI.

He co-chaired two technical sessions of the Second Interational Conference on Infrastructure Development and Sustainability (ICID) held at Adani University, Ahmedabad during December 11-12, 2024 and Sym-Emerge 2025 - International Conference of Symbiosis Institute of  Business Management (SIBM) Pune on January 12, 2025

Dr. Avinash D. Bagul from NICMAR University, Pune, India, was awarded the “Best Oral Presentation Award” at the 6th International Conference on Supply Chain Management (ICSCM 2025) Japan. Held from February 21 to 23, 2025, the conference was organized by the Society of Advanced Information Science and Engineering (SAISE) in collaboration with Hosei University and Fukushima University, Japan. It covered a wide spectrum of areas - Risk Management, Supply Chain Quality, Digitization, Big Data & Data Analytics, and Technology in Supply Chain Management.

Dr. Pradeepta Kumar Samanta from School of Construction was invited as a panelist for the Post-Budget Panel Discussion "Arthashastra 5.0" at Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD), Pune on February 14, 2025. 

Sustainable Expo 2025

Faculty and students from the School of Energy & Environment actively participated in the CME Technical Sustainable Expo 2025, held at the College of Military Engineering, Dapodi, Maharashtra, from 6th to 8th February 2025. This prestigious platform provided an opportunity to showcase research innovations in sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental resilience to military professionals and experts. Engaging with defence personnel facilitated knowledge exchange on sustainable solutions in infrastructure and operations. The event reinforced the importance of integrating sustainability into Défense strategies while fostering industry-academia collaboration to address real-world environmental challenges.

Bridging Academia & Industry: Visit to Sudarshan Chemical, Roha

Students of MBA in Environmental Sustainability recently had an insightful industrial visit to the Sudarshan Chemical Manufacturing Plant in Roha on 7th February 2025. Organized by the School of Energy & Environment, this visit provided first-hand exposure to sustainable manufacturing, environmental compliance, and industrial safety practices in the chemical sector. Key learnings included emissions control, waste management, health & safety protocols, and sustainable innovations in green chemistry. The visit reinforced the importance of regulatory compliance and process optimization for minimizing environmental impact.

Shaping Minds: Bridging Theory, Practice, and History in Architecture and Planning

Dr. Fredericke Lausch from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, conducted two workshops for architecture and planning students titled “Architecture Theory and Criticism” and “Tools for Survival: Exploring Manuals for Self-Reliance in Planning.” These workshops focused on instilling a research-oriented mindset among students.
Dr. Prajakta Sane from Canberra, Australia delivered a lecture titled “My Journey…through Architectural History” which offered both students and faculty a profound understanding of the role architects as well as planners play in architectural conservation and history.

Sustainability In Action from Water To Sun: Exploring Sustainable Energy Solutions

Students from the School of Energy & Environment explored key sustainability and energy management practices through visits to the Sardar Sarovar Dam and Muniseva Ashram in Gujarat, from 7th to 10th February. At the dam, they gained insights into hydroelectric power generation, water resource management, and environmental impact assessment. Observations included the dam’s 1200 MW power generation capacity, its role in irrigation and water supply, and advanced automation systems.
At Muniseva Ashram, students witnessed groundbreaking solar innovations, including large-scale solar cooking, India’s first 100-ton solar-powered air conditioning system, and an eco-friendly solar crematorium. These visits reinforced the importance of renewable energy and efficient resource management in driving sustainable development.

Celebrating Knowledge and Spring: Saraswati Puja

On 2nd and 3rd February, 2025, the Vasant Panchami festival was celebrated with devotion, honoring Goddess Saraswati. The event included Saraswati Puja, Pushpanjali, a Bengali-themed lunch, and Sandhya Aarti. On the second day, the Aarti continued, culminating in the Visarjan ceremony. Students, staff, and the community joined in the celebration, embracing the traditions of knowledge, learning, and the arrival of spring.

Eye Check-Up Camp in Collaboration with Lenskart

The Eye Check-Up Camp, organized in collaboration with Lenskart, aimed to promote eye health and raise awareness about vision care among students, staff, and the local community. The camp offered free eye check-ups, vision screenings, and consultations with expert ophthalmologists. It provided valuable insights into preventing eye-related issues and emphasized the importance of regular eye exams. Participants benefited from early detection of vision problems and received guidance on eye care. The event contributed to the well-being of the community, fostering a proactive approach to health, while strengthening the bond between the university and the surrounding society.

Unleashing Talent & Promoting Safety: Fabstar Music Hunt & Bike Safety Event

The Fabstar Music Talent Hunt + Free Bike Ride Test & Safety Awareness event provided a platform for students to showcase their musical talents and compete for the chance to kickstart their music careers. The event featured live performances, fostering creativity and building confidence among participants. In addition, Honda BigWing conducted a safety awareness campaign, offering a free bike ride test and educating attendees on road safety practices. This initiative benefited students by enhancing their skills and awareness, while also promoting safety within the community.

The Merch Reveal by NICMAR Fashion Club for Technikala 2025

The Merch Reveal by NICMAR Fashion Club showcased an exclusive collection of stylish merchandise, building excitement for the upcoming Technikala 2025. The event allowed students to express their creativity, preview unique designs, and set the stage for a stunning showcase. The fashion show, a highlight of the evening, displayed the talent of our budding designers and models, leaving everyone eager for the main event. This exciting reveal was a perfect blend of fashion, creativity, and anticipation for what’s to come at Technikala 2025.

The Soundwave

The Soundwave was an electrifying prelude to Technikala 2025. The event set the stage on fire with a fusion of groovy beats and powerful melodies, creating an unforgettable atmosphere filled with unfiltered music. Surprises kept the energy high, as everyone vibed, grooved, and sang along. Diverse musical performances and vibrant acts captivated the audience, making it a night to remember. It was an incredible opportunity for students, staff, and the wider community to bond over their shared passion for music, paving the way for an exciting and energetic countdown to Technikala 2025.

Flashmob

On 16th February, 2025, the NICMAR Dance Club delivered an unforgettable Flashmob performance at Pavilion Mall, setting the stage for the excitement of Technikala 2025. As the beats dropped and the rhythm took over, the mall was filled with the electrifying energy of our dynamic dancers. Spectators were treated to an impromptu, high-energy spectacle that left everyone in awe and sparked immense excitement for the upcoming grand fest. The vibrant performance brought students, staff, and the wider community together, igniting a sense of unity and anticipation for what's to come in Technikala 2025 – where an ocean of exploration awaits.

ShivJayanti Celebrations 2025!

On 19th February, 2025, we came together to celebrate the birth anniversary of the legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a visionary leader and symbol of valor. The ShivJayanti celebrations kicked off with a grand procession featuring a Dhol-Tasha Pathak, beautifully showcasing the vibrant spirit of our rich cultural heritage. The procession led to the MBH Mess, where a traditional lunch was enjoyed by all. In the evening, we honored his legacy with captivating cultural performances at the Main Auditorium. The day united students, staff, and the community in paying tribute to Shivaji Maharaj’s unparalleled leadership and enduring spirit.

Nukkad Natak

On 21st February, 2025, the NICMAR MAD CLUB presented a captivating Nukkad Natak at Kalakar Katta as a prelude to Technikala 2025. Based on Gandhiji's 3 monkeys of humanity—See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil—the play delivered a powerful message about morality and human values. The street performance sparked deep reflection and conversations, blending cultural richness with social awareness. It set the stage for the excitement leading to Technikala 2025, with students, staff, and the community coming together, fueling anticipation for the grand fest ahead.

Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas

Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas is a celebration dedicated to honoring the culture, contributions, and heritage of India's tribal communities. The event brings people together to acknowledge the rich traditions, history, and invaluable role played by these communities in shaping the nation's identity. It serves as a reminder of their strength, resilience, and deep-rooted connection to the land.

The Month of February saw significant participation, with many prominent recruiters conducting the process for Final Placements for our senior batch as well for Summer Internships for our junior batch.
